9-7-09 Monday – Port Renfrew, Suggery Cove, Port San Juan, Vancouver Is. September 11, 2009

Posted by captnmike in The Queen Charlottes 2009.

Left Bamfield at 7:31am. Pretty rock and rolly for the first half. Basically wind on the nose or not much at all. Current was against us most of the day until 1:30pm. We saw Tatoosh Island and Cape Flattery today which is the first time to see USA for over two months. Sky and weather was great the last half of the trip except for no wind. We tried trolling for salmon but no luck since the rains.

We’re in Suggery Cove, in Port San Juan, Vancouver Is. about 5:06pm. There is WiFi here of all places. Good weather, a bit rough at first, then settled down, but I drank some tea while cooking crabs and mopping up the floor from a 2 1/2 gallon spill of salt water in the galley at the first of the trip in rough seas, and the tea came back up. I was taking some oysters in a bucket to the galley. I decided to stay outside and steer for a while. Did fine the rest of the trip. Trip1657.1, Motor 45.0 ( Note I messed up on the last mileage entry. For 9-5-09 it should be Trip 1612.1 for 4.7 motoring)
