Code Blue Folks, 1-14-15

Just thought I’d send a note on what’s going on with Code Blue.

1) We have a main sail and genoa on order from Calibre Sails Ltd.
2) We have a cockpit enclosure and window covers on order from Palmer Canvas Marine.
3) We’re looking for a van to buy to tour around the islands here in New Zealand.
4) We’re currently in Whangarei, NZ, a couple of hours north of Auckland by car. We currently have a boater friend with a van and have enjoyed several day trips or dinners out at places around the island.

5) We just completed installation of a Class B VesperMarine 850 AIS WatchMate transmitter with powered antenna splitter for VHF and AM/FM. Now our vessel will show up on other vessels Automatic Identification System (AIS). We can also use this for a loud alarm system for anchoring and in connection with our Kannad Safelink R10 lifejacket system, using AIS.
6) Weather has been very good with sun and warm days.
7) We’re working on sprucing up the inside of the boat some. I’m coating a lot of my tools with CorrosionX to prevent rust from humid salt air.

Whangarei, NZ (Hopefully in May 2015 we’ll head north to Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa’s.

Sounds like you are getting lots of things done on your to-do lists. Hope you find just the van you want….thenwhen done, maybe sell it to another sailor just arriving and taking your spot. Thanks for the updates. Marie & Greg

Your boat work sounds like it is progressing well. Have you visited the giant Kauri forest yet? Go see the named Kauris. Also go to Waitomo caves and do some black water rafting.
