Looks like we’ll be leaving New Zealand soon. Friday 13th we head to Marsden Cove to fuel up with discounted GST fuel, stay Friday night, then check out with NZ customs and start sailing to Fiji. Light winds are predicted for 1/2 the way or so with a motoring high in the middle they say. We plan to stop off at Minerva Reef the north one that looks like a big Cheerio 3 miles in diameter about, for scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, partying and such. It has a small entrance on the east side. Judy has a chart picture I’ll try to send Friday of the reef.

One bummer is New Zealand has their own regulations for cylinders such as propane tanks and scuba tanks. They require a lab number for each tank showing the test data for each hydro on scuba tanks. The rest of the world follows the international industry standards. You can’t get a tank filled in NZ unless it has a lab number. Two of my tanks are empty pretty much 340 lbs. and 210 pounds. One is pretty full at 3120 for 3442 steel tank. Hopefully I can find someone with a privately owned compressor. I know of one boat in Marsden Cove with a compressor, but they don’t get in until after the 15th of May, not sure when. We leave on the 14th. Last year I was able to get tanks filled from a boat at Minerva.

Judy didn’t have a South Minerva picture of the chart in her computer, this
is North Minerva. We anchored last year at the lower triangle to the right
of the circle. Did three pass dives, two on the north section, one on the
south side at a place called Blue Hole. All had really good visibility.
North Minerva is about 300 miles south of Tonga in what seems the middle of
the ocean with nothing around. Some land shows on the reef only at low
