Here’s a bit of excitement we had with discovery of s/v Dignity that had been
missing for a while from Marsden Cove to Vuda Point, Fiji. Way over due.
We talked to NZ Air Force Orion airplane for a while about 10am today 5-24-16 NZ local time. They were looking for s/v Dignity.

We offered many vessels knew they were missing but no one had heard from them.

Shortly there after Orion talked to Dignity on CH 16 10:10am, Position was
S 23* 19, W 177* 23 W 90 nm east of N. Minerva and a bit north. We could hear one side of the conversation from the airplane.

They are low on fuel, and low on water 70 liters.

Dignity says they do have an EPIRB, they did a test signal with Orion and it
worked.

Assistance from powered Vessel Domino (WDF2867) leaving Minerva at 10:58 with speed of 10 kts was offered, but confirmed by Orion from Dignity not needed.

Dignity earlier said they were 3 to 5 days from Lautoka, Fiji, but without HF
radio they don’t know the lighter winds expected on the way to Fiji. S/V
Fluenta (CFN6107) offered that they will be in N. Minerva until Thursday 5/26
and can provide fuel and water. Also other boats will be in Minerva for
assistance after that. Orion passed that info on to Dignity.

Note History on s/v Dignity, they left Marsden Cove (Near Whangarei) on May 2, 2016, headed to Vuda Point, Fiji. Light winds to almost none were noted in the area while we transitted 14th to 21st to Minerva from Marsden.

Well, that was a bit of excitement. Thanks for sharing. Happy to hear that they are safe. We are still in AZ. We are a week behind our planned time.. Motorhome had leaking Hydraulic rear jacks. Waiting for the 3rd set to be overnighted. They kept sending the wrong thing. Keeping our fingers crossed that the 3rd time is a charm. Marie
